چکیده

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) tomography is a technique that has been intensely developed in the last years for the analysis of complex scenarios. SAR Tomography is based on the principle of synthesizing a large aperture along the height provide imaging radar 3D resolution capabilities. SAR tomography can be applied to the imaging of scattering distributed along the vertical direction such as forest mapping with lower frequency (L and P-Band) SAR systems; with higher frequency (C and X-Band) sensors, where penetration is very limited and the scattering mainly occurs at the surface level SAR tomography allows tackling problems that limits classical SAR Interferometry related to the interference of scatterers within the same pixels due to the occurrence of layover. This paper aims to provide an overview of the technique by explaining the basics concepts of SAR tomography and illustrating the advantages over classical SAR interferometry. Results achieved by processing real spaceborne data are provided to show the capabilities and potentialities of the application of SAR tomography.

Three Dimensional Sar Tomography in Shanghai Using High Resolu- Tion Space-borne Sar Data

In this paper, we will demonstrate three-dimensional tomographic reconstruction of space-borne highresolution SAR data using Shanghai as our test site. The high density of high-rise buildings in Shanghai leads to a rather complicated backscattering regime, which is difficult to handle with conventional interferometric processing. For the tomographic signal reconstruction, we use three different...

Tomographic Imaging of a Forested Area By Airborne Multi-Baseline P-Band SAR

In recent years, various attempts have been undertaken to obtain information about the structure of forested areas from multi-baseline synthetic aperture radar data. Tomographic processing of such data has been demonstrated for airborne L-band data but the quality of the focused tomographic images is limited by several factors. In particular, the common Fourierbased focusing methods are suscept...

Development of a Ground-based Tomographic Sar System

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) provides high-resolution images regardless of weather conditions and solar illumination. However, a SAR image projects the 3D distributed targets onto a 2D plane in range and azimuth. Tomographic SAR (TomoSAR) is a technique to generate 3D image by adding the vertical baselines to the conventional SAR image acquisition. TomoSAR has recently been used to map the in...

A study on irregular baseline constellations in SAR tomography

SAR Tomography (SARTom) is the natural extension of SAR Interferometry (InSAR) to solve for multiple phase centers within a resolution cell and obtain the 3-dimensional (3D) representation of a scene. In order to obtain a reasonable resolution and reject ambiguities, a large tomographic aperture sampled with a sufficient number of acquisitions is required. For most applications this number repr...

A Tomographic Approach to Multi-pass Sar Imaging

In this communication we illustrate the employment of a tomographic technique to face the problem of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging in a two-dimensional and scalar geometry and under a multi-frequency/multi-monostatic measurement configuration. In this context the different points of illumination and observation arise from different passes of the SAR sensor. We perform the analysis and ...

First demonstration of airborne SAR tomography using multibaseline L-band data

In synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry, the phase differences between two different sensor positions are used to estimate the terrain topography. Although it is possible in this way to find a three-dimensional (3-D) surface representation, the distribution of the different scatterers in the height direction at a fixed range and azimuth position remains unknown. Contrary to this, tomog...
